New LSRI Blog on the 1985 Jersey City Voter Suppression Case

The Rutgers Latino Studies Research Initiative has published a new blog post by civil rights attorney Juan Cartagena on the historic 1985 Vargas v. Calabrese voter suppression case in Jersey City. Cartagena revisits how Black and Puerto Rican voters confronted election-day intimidation during a pivotal mayoral runoff and how their legal challenge reshaped New Jersey election law.
