New on LSRI: Salvadorans in New Jersey, 1960-Present

Journalist and author Carmen Molina Tamacas traces more than sixty years of Salvadoran life in New Jersey, explaining why people came, where they settled, and how they shaped the state.

Using Census and ACS data with Migration Policy Institute analyses, the post maps major hubs in Hudson, Union, Essex and Bergen counties, with special attention to the Bergenline corridor, and notes persistent undercounts. It also summarizes TPS history and organizing, and profiles community leaders in activism, culture, diplomacy and academia. A directory of organizations, parades and oral-history resources completes the piece. Read the full article for maps, photos and links to archives, libraries and local groups.
