Hiring a Rutgers Graduate Student

The Latino Studies Research Initiative (LSRI) at Rutgers University seeks a highly motivated and organized Rutgers Graduate Student for a part-time Program Manager position. This is an excellent opportunity for a current Rutgers graduate student to contribute to a dynamic research initiative.

Responsibilities:

The Program Manager will work closely with the LSRI directors to execute the following tasks:

  • Content Acquisition & Management: Recruit and process new scholarly contributions for the LSRI website, including outreach in NYC. Coordinate and supervise the work of commissioned contributors (oral histories, essays, etc.).
  • Research & Content Development: Develop research-based website content, such as timelines, photo essays, bibliographies, and chronologies.
  • Event Coordination: Organize faculty and graduate student workshops.
  • Communications & Outreach: Manage LSRI social media presence and email lists.
  • Website Management: Edit and maintain WordPress and Omeka-based websites.
  • Community Partnership: Coordinate work with the Newark Public Library Hispanic Division.
  • Archival Management: Develop and correct metadata for a scanned archive. Manage the LSRI digital archive.
  • Networking & Collaboration: Network with scholars at other institutions.
  • Community Engagement: Develop community-based content for the website.
  • Editorial Support: Edit essays for website publication.
  • Grant Development: Develop a proposal for the NH Humanities Council.
  • Multimedia Development: Establish a Vimeo or YouTube channel for the LSRI.

Qualifications:

  • Current Rutgers graduate student. Any campus.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience with website management (WordPress and Omeka preferred).
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Interest in Latino Studies is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of Spanish is desirable.
  • Must be available for the full 2025-2026 academic year. Work may include April to June but interrupted in the summer.

Compensation: $30 per hour, 5-7 hours per week.
